Love the ruminations and old friends and why those relationships endure. They are increasingly meaningful.

Well , my comment did not end with “and” . the sentence ended “ so eclectic. “ You are a combination of John McPhee and Bill Bryson and Samuel Johnson and Simon Winchester. I agree with John Tennis about Citizens and —though not a reader of novels —Mantel’s trilogy. The best book I know about male friendships and their several types is my friend Dr. Geoffrey Greif’s BUDDY SYSTEM. All the best from Siena, where Penny and I are for her annual Yale Summer Study program , this year 5-24 —7-19. I expect the Os to catch the Bronx Bombers by the time we return. Make that your project! 😄Allan

Well the AI bot was fun....for sure.........but easy to see how my musician friends are rapidly losing commercial writing income. But that is for another day. Good bit on Doug's party as well!!

Thanks, Kevin. The creative/copyright/income/actor-artist collective bargaining issues (on and on) are daunting, indeed. Many lawsuits already have been filed, large and small. But litigation and liability aside, the outcome for creative endeavors is something to be watched closely, for sure. That little James Taylor spoof was FREE. As I wrote, imagine what the more advanced models are already capable of doing. Best, Scott

Scott-this is some strange and interesting stuff-in much of which I am interested. I have a copy of ‘Traffic’around here somewhere if you want to know even more-I know-doubtful. Keep feeding that shit into your AI bot so we don’t have to.

Love ya.

Thanks for your kind comments, Ted. You’re the second subscriber who wrote to say that she owns a copy of TRAFFIC … and she even sent me a photo of it on her bookshelf. What does this say about my reader demographics?!

You touched on the role of Christianity in the fall of the Roman Empire, but didn’t carry it through to the Crusades and how in many ways the Crusades and it’s battles for the Holy Land are carrying forth to today’s conflicts in the Middle East. Trump-Gaza?

After reading today's Meandering Tour, I shared it with my cousin who lives in Austintown Ohio.

She likes your style, but wonders about the true location of your Strategic Planning Retreat. She doesn't seem to know where the Meander Creek Conference Center is located.

Maybe it's in the back booth of MOJO's Bar & Grill, her favorite pub?

I too am fascinated by the French Revolution and have read many books and listened to several podcasts about it. One book,Citizens, is a must read. It is a history by the great British Historian and Art Historian Simon Schama that is not only history brought to life but a close study of the art of the Revolution. But for me it is the novel A Place of Greater Safety by the multiple Booker Prize winning author Hilary Mantel that cemented my interest. Mantel as you know also wrote the Wolf Hall trilogy about Henry VIII. Books I have been trying to get you to read for years or every time you ask me for a recommendation.

Yes, you have! I'm pathetic. I just ordered "A Place of Greater Safety." Thanks for your patience and readership.
